Joshua Rose and Erin Richardson came out on top in the Boys and Girls U18 competitions at the Notts Junior Open ending this past weekend. Rose (35 ranked – 14/4) defeated Oliver Cutting (28 ranked – 14/4) in three sets, closing out the game 7-5, 3-6, 6-3. Whilst unseeded Richardson won her match against three seed Alisha Reayer 6-3, 6-3.
Rose, from Hertforshire, won his first three matches in straight sets, but in the semi-final had to go to a match tie breaker to win against Matthew Clegg,
Richardson, from the West Hants, took the quickest route to the final, needing no match tie-breakers to get there and putting out second and fourth seeds on the way. Richardson is still eligible to play in the 16 and under group, where she currently ranks 16 nationally, against an 18 and under group ranking of 44.
